Building work has started at the old police station site in Lea Road, transforming part of it into a new FISH Volunteer Centre. This is currently scheduled for completion by the end of the year. This will guarantee continuity of its current services and, it is hoped, enable us to expand and improve what we can offer to the local community. It is still possible to contribute to funds for this exciting project via our 'Buy a brick' scheme- click here for the form (or pick up a form from the FISH office, on the FISH bus, or at various outlets in Sonning Common.
Knitted items. Some of our volunteers and clients have very kindly been knitting to produce items which can be sold to raise funds. The huge stash of wool which was donated to us has now been transformed into hats, mittens and hot-water bottle covers. Sadly the craft fair at which we had planned to sell these has had to be cancelled due to Covid so they will now be for sale in the lobby of the FISH office during opening hours for a minimum donation of £5. Any further donations of knitted items or of wool would be gratefully received.
29th October- New knitted products are appearing in our office all the time. We now have babies' booties and jackets as well as a selection of lovely crocheted blankets suitable for babies or cold knees!
ALSO... New this week! A selection of beautiful wooden items for sale, hand-turned by our talented and generous volunteer Peter Rickards- snowmen, bowls, pots with lids, lamps and more (prices from £5 to £40). Come and see what we have or contact Peter on 0118 9722691 to arrange a viewing of more items. Proceeds will be split between Fish and Sonning Common First Responders.
